Final Leaflet Design

With the design of my leaflet, I thought carefully about how to to connect it to the logo and the architectural design of the school. I wanted to make it friendly and appealing to young people as well as older people whilst still containing information about the school. 

Final Logo Design

These are more ranges of an idea I had for the logo. After receiving feedback from my other designs, I wanted to make it visually interesting but also have a meaning behind it too. I feel that this logo is a good representation of the school, it is very positive and nice to look at. The 'Heco' being incorporated with the flower shows the rooting the school has on the students, the journey it takes and the blossoming finish. I think this is a really nice way to look at the journey we take at school and growing up.

Logo designs

These are a couple of logo designs i made and changed little things about each design to make it different, to be able to visualise a range of different styles gives me more choice in choosing what logo is right for the school. I feel that the top one is not suitable for the school and it gives off the wrong impression and the bottom logo may be a bit too straight forward and boring for the aims we have as a school. I still however experimented about with these to logo ideas.

Final Leaflet

This is the final leaflet for the project. I covered everything we wanted to put across and explain. I chose to use rope type font as i feel it enhances the natural eco theme we were going for.

This was the final presentation for Heco School. In our presentation we covered the issues of modern schooling, and what makes Heco School different from that.

Leaflet

I decided to create a leaflet for the school, so we can fully show what the school has to offer and what makes it so unique.

With the design ideas, I wanted it to connect to the logo and also the arhitectual design of the school so it all connects together. With this i thought to make it an actual green leaf shape which i think will work well.

Floating school

we researched into the Makoko floating school, which is a new design of a floating school in Lagos. It is a new innovative design that is sustainable and adapted to their specific surroundings.

I feel the flower is a good representation of the school. It shows the grounding of the students and the journey it takes through school, to the beautiful positive outcome at the end. It also emphasises the natural take we have on learning. From general feedback, this logo gained very positive feedback.

After having some difficulties in finding a logo that suited the school, I went back to the original Hemp Housing logo and used the H shaped leaf as the simple icon in the school logo. From my previous desgins I feel this one is best and most comfortable, but after getting feedback on the idea that maybe an image would be more powerful in representing the idea and to also make it less formal and predictable.

Digital logo ideas

I played around on the computer with more logo ideas from the school. I do not feel any of these came out very succesfully and look too boring to represent the one of a kind school.

More logo ideas

I wanted to try more illustrative ways to present my logo, to make the school seem more inviting to have a direct correlation of meaning between the logo and the school.

Logo ideas

I decided to take the Graphics route on this project, in which I would design a logo for the school and posters and advertisment.
Here are a few logo ideas i had for the Hemp Housing company, and for H.C.C - Heco Community College a potential name idea for the school.

New Idea

after taking into consideration the feedback we reinvented our idea in creating an eco hemp school that is completely self sufficient and is constructed from hemp.

Derby Feedback

1- What positive feedback did you recieve?
- good, original idea - not many people have heard of hemp and its uses.
-Had alot of statisticd to back up our ideas.
-Had sense of direction in our progress, on the right track.

2- Where there any issues raised about your idea?
- How we are going to develop it into a completely original idea and how we are going to visualise and interpret our ideas to incorporate visual design

3- Which questions were you asked?
- Why hemp? explore other ideas e.g sawdust.
- look at transportation, manufacturing and building.

4- Did the idea change?
Our idea did not change, we just thought deeper and narrowed our idea into an Eco Hemp School.

Hemp Housing logo

we also created a logo for our company 'Hemp Housing'. We played around with colours and shapes and came to the conclusion of simply creating the H in the shape of green leaves. Simple and Natural, like the aim of our project.

this was the final presentation we created for derby. We covered facts and statistics, images and the aim of our project.

after more research on hempcrete we found even more benefits to using this product.

We also needed to look at the actual amount of hemp fibres that would be needed to construct a home.

1 Acre of hemp produces 3-7 tonnes of fibres in a 12 week growing cycle.

roughly 5 tonnes of hemp fibres would be needed per house.

Growing hemp takes in 4 times more carbon dioxide than trees, and while trees take 20+ years to mature, a hemp plant is mature within 4 months.

we looked at hemp housing and the current housing projects around the world that are using hemp in the construction of houses, and the beautiful creations they have made.
